Showroom Logic Launching Better Used Car Twitter Feed

July 22, 2009 by Showroom Logic · Leave a Comment

Patrick and I have been playing around with Twitter for the past couple of weeks. Being that we are the only third party used car site that has RSS feeds of the actual used car inventory, it was very easy for us to automatically update a Twitter Account.

Normally we would take the RSS Feed and send it to TwitterFeed, which in turn would send it to Twitter. We found TwitterFeed to be a bit buggy. Half the time the tweet would never arrive, or it would take longer than normal.

Patrick decided 2 days ago to create our own Twitter Used Car Feed, which will be embedded directly into our website. Basically, he is making our own Twitter App and we are bypassing TwitterFeed. Now the Tweets will look like this:

Automatic Car Tweets

Automatic Car Tweets

David Ingold of Park Automall (near Clearwater and Tampa Florida) will be our first car dealer using this technology. If things go as schedule, it will be live tomorrow. We chose Dave because he utilizes Social Networking Sites like Facebook and Twitter. He is way ahead of the game in the Tampa Florida area.

A word of advise if you are a car dealer using Twitter. Don’t over Tweet! It’s hard enough to get followers in the first place, and if you Tweet too often you will scare them away. Only Tweet when you have something to say. For Example:

1) Announce a new promotion like 0% Financing

2) Announce Service Department Specials, like “This week only, free tire rotation with oil change”.

3) Announce Your New Inventory, like “Just got 3 new Camaros on the lot.”

4) Announce Your Used Inventory (Showroom Logic Customers get this done automatically)

If you are a car dealer and you currently aren’t using Twitter we will set you up with an account, get you some followers and set up your automation. If you are using Twitter we will set up your automation as well.
