Dave Ingold at Park Automall in the Tampa Bay Florida area is no stranger to social networking. Since March of this year he has been steadily building a following on Twitter & Facebook.

Last month we made Park Automall’s life alot easier by setting them up with our automatic social networking system for car dealers. It turns out their massive Social Networking presence even sparked the attention of Bay News 9, which happens to be the largest TV & Online news in the Tampa Florida area. This is no accident however. Included in our 90 day plan is a press release announcing them to be a “social network friendly dealer”. Check out the exposure they received here.

We are a small company based in Florida, but we currently are the only ones who can automatically update a dealer’s Twitter and Facebook account with their actual inventory. Twitter Backlinks Proven To Be Valuable Visitors

Many of our current new and used car dealers are starting to utilize Twitter. Besides their own personal feeds, we set up a Florida Twitter account that Tweets all vehicles added to any of our websites in the state of Florida. Each tweet included a link to the actual used car or truck that was tweeted. Our Twitter id is http://www.twitter.com/floridausedcars.

Our weekly stats were very impressive. Were there many clicks? No, but the quality of the clicks were amazing (see graphic).

Graphic Explained (compiled from Google Analytics):

• Visits: 161 people visited our used car inventory in the past 7 days. Although this isn’t many, the quality of the visitors are exceptional.
• Pages per Visit: The average user visited 6.48 pages per visit, so basically they looked at 6.5 cars each.
• Average Time On Site: Out of those 161 visitors the average time on the website was 17 minutes and 7 seconds. That is a huge number, and the highest I’ve ever noticed on any website I’ve ever been affiliated with. Considering they only looked at 6.5 cars, they were obviously interested in many of them to spend that long on our website.
• Bounce Rate: Most websites have a bounce rate of 50%. This is a great stat, considering it shows that 7 out of 10 people who clicked through to our website went on to see more cars.

What did we learn? Twitter is like fishing with a great lure. The hardest part is to get quality followers.

With Twitter you can:

1. Embed your Twitter App directly on your dealer website. This will display all of your Tweets (in recent order). Not only will this send messages to your visitors, it will encourage followers.
2. Use an RSS feed to automatically update Twitter, sending out a “Tweet” every time a new vehicle gets posted to your inventory, or you can do it manually. More info
3. Get your name before someone else does! Go to Twitter.com and sign up because if you wait too long all of the good names will be taken.
